Beneath the Glittering Surface - A Tale of a Young Boy with Nothing but Heart
Greetings to my Cent family and fellow Hivers, it's another day and another chance to tell a tale that will entertain, teach and inspire my readers. It's your young writer @skyehi back again. Let's have fun guys.
Today's story aims to teach a classic and popular moral lesson that I believe there's a good chance that you have heard before. " Not All that glitters is gold" .
Not everything that looks good is good. Which is also why people say; Never judge a book by its cover. The content might be way better than the package.
LET'S READ THE STORY
Once upon a time in the glorious and booming city of Memphis lived a young college boy named Marcus. Marcus had a dream of making it to the very big leagues of the NFL sports or football
The kicker in Marcus's story is that he didn't exactly look like NFL or American football material. The NFL players were supposed to be big, tough looking and strong. Marcus was around 5ft 8 and was an average sized man. However Marcus had strong bones and was really healthy on the inside. And one thing Marcus had was heart. The inner will to keep pushing even when it's super difficult.
I guess it's basically genetics. Some people just can't put on as much weight but could be stronger than bigger guys
Now the team that Marcus wanted to join had a mean and very picky man for a coach named Coach Harlan. Coach Harlan was one that definitely judges every book by its cover. Before he picks a player for his team, the player would have to look the part to play the part. He had a special thing for big, puffy and strong looking players because he believed that NFL was strictly a game of strength and a little bit of skill.
Now you would imagine that Marcus before this man will be a complete turndown.
To be honest, Marcus didn't stand a chance before the coach.
The big games drew very close and Coach Harlan made his usual selection of giant looking guys. Marcus was left out of the team.
Now this is basically where the story took a surprise turn. One person who was very aware of the great talent and heart that Marcus poses recommended him to the opposing team that would go up against Coach Harlan's team.
Marcus's luck shined and he made it to the team. This means he had to go up against Coach Harlan's team.
The coach in Marcus's team saw the great potential of Marcus during their training for the tournament. Marcus so impressed the coach that he made him team captain.
With Marcus leading the charge as captain, that underdog team outplayed and outsmarted Harlan's handpicked players. Harlan realized what he had lost. He misjudged Marcus greatly.
Marcus's involvement in the opposing team made a huge difference. They overtook and won the game against Harlan's team.
Coach Harlan learned a great deal and great lesson that day. It's not just what's on the outside but what's on the inside also counts.
He learned not to judge people by theirs appearance and from that day, his bases for picking players completely changed.
He was taught a serious lesson; Not all that glitters is truly gold. Sometimes what's inside may not be a direct reflection of what's outside.
The End
I hope you enjoyed this simple and inspiring story. We should be careful not to judge people until we have given them enough chance to prove themselves. Not everything that looks good is actually good. It turned out, Marcus was better than all the big and strong looking players that Coach Harlan Picked.
Coach Harlan lost the match that day because he misjudged someone that was better than he looked. Don't make that same mistake guys. Thanks for taking the time to read my story today. Hope to get your feedback on the story. Have a lovely day guys. Bye ❤️.
