The Impact of Artificial Intelligence In Healthcare

Greetings to my dearest Hive community and Cent Community. Today's blog post is a special one about Artificial Intelligence, AI.

In my previous post I talked about the impact of Artificial Intelligence, AI in the future of our world and I enumerated quite a number of things including how it would transform the financial industry, movie industry, Music Industry and so on.

In today's blog post I'll center on the impact of AI in the healthcare industry.

Now in this past fews years, a lot has changed in the healthcare industry. Most of the transformation is as a result of the role of AI. Artificial Intelligence has really transformed the way we do a lot of things in the hospital which includes diagnosing a patient to find out about their medical condition and the treatment the patient needs.

Now with AI comes one very special thing, Speed and ease. One very important thing that AI has done to really help transform the Healthcare is that it has allowed us to be capable of processing a huge chunk of medical data with a speed like never before.

Things that would have taken a couple days to do is now being done instantly. This is very good because it would allow a patient to be treated faster which will increase the possibility of being cured. This would also allow more patients to be assisted and given proper care in one day. That's a huge step forward in Healthcare and it's all thanks to advancement in AI technology.

How does it happen you may ask

Well, ever heard of Machine learning guys? The machine learning algorithms can run through a patient's records, medical history, medical images and the patient's genetic records to be able to identify particular patterns that would give a prediction of a disease way before it can even manifest clinically. That's a serious step forward into the future.

Like people mostly say, "Prevention is Better Than Cure". With AI, we don't even have to wait till it's too late or you're very sick. We can actually end up predicting what could happen and stop it before it happens.

Another improvement is in how accurate we can diagnose the problem. Remember those days where a doctor would have to touch you all over just to find out what your medical problem was? Well nowadays, through scans and AI powered data generation systems we don't have to. There's more human error and less Machine error. There's more accuracy when using the AI to check for the patient's problem. This will greatly improve the treatment we will give to sick patients and that will increase their chances of being cured of their sickness. Now not only will it reduce the error, it will basically make things faster. A doctor can now make faster decisions backed by more accurate data. It's truly a big step forward into the future of advanced medicine. ❤️

Now there's even more with AI. It's not just helping the doctors do their work more efficiently and effectively but it's also making the patients more comfortable. There are AI chat bots and virtual assistants that have been manufactured with AI technology.

I saw a documentary were a sick little boy was being taken care of by a robot. The people did everything they could to let the boy eat so he can be stronger and healthier but the boy refused. However the cute Chat bot was able to let the boy eat and then play with the boy. This is how good things can get.

With Virtual assistants, patients can communicate and engage even more effectively and disclose their issue properly.

Now this is where it gets even better. After diagnosing a patient's problem the next step is to find a good drug that will help solve the problem. AI has sped up the processing in predicting the potential drug or kind of drug that would help combat that particular disease.

With AI, they can run a simulation program which determines the effect of the predicted drug to the disease or microorganisms causing that disease and can also predict the kind of therapy the patient will need to go through.

The challenge

Now AI from the above information we have read has greatly improved healthcare however to everything there are two sides, both a good side and a rather alarming side. The part we need to be concerned with is the confidentiality of the patient's medical information. Since hackers can probably still hack in the future, we would probably need to address this data privacy concern before making anymore advancements with AI and Healthcare.

I hope you're starting to get the true value and impact of AI in the healthcare industry. A lot will definitely change in the future. We will be getting proper, more effective and more efficient treatment. We should just be careful not to abuse the technology when it becomes more advanced because that could affect human lives.
