Three Tune Tuesday with songs becoming victims of the cancel culture/ Re-blog lottery for a chance to win 3 HSBI!

Three tune Tuesday is always so much fun to hear all the songs from different genres. Thanks to @ablaze for sponsoring the weekly event! I wasn't all that sure if I was going to participate this time around because until this morning I really didn't have any thoughts or themes that really stood out in my mind. Then I saw a news story about the band Queen releasing a new greatest hits compilation. I suppose one can never have too many of these from the band's point of view, the more they're able to sell and more money to make. But this time they are leaving out one of their biggest hits "Fat Bottomed Girls", becoming a victim of the WOKE movement. I hate to see this... just because you don't like the past doesn't give you the right to try to edit it. It just makes me sick to hear these kinds of things...

So today I thought I might share three tunes that definitely are not going to be liked by the cancel culture/ edit the past movement. All three great songs that deserve to be remembered using the theme of "girls" in honor of "Fat Bottomed Girls". First we start off with Queen fronted by Freddie Mercury whose untimely death in 1991 from HIV was a shock to most everyone. Queen are an English band that produced a string of hits throughout the eighties, and I'm sure to most of you they need no introduction. Here's "Fat Bottomed Girls":

Now my second choice came to mind pretty quickly as I thought what hit songs from the past would be considered "offensive" by the cancel culture/ past editors of today. Motley Crue were the bad boys of rock in the 1980's. When they were on tour their lifestyle pretty much consisted of performing a show, straight to the airport to fly to the next city while enjoying their drug of choice in route. Then straight to a strip club for the rest of the night for one long party. Sleep all day, then onto the stage again in the evening and repeat. It's no wonder they wrote a song about strip clubs. Here's "Girls Girls Girls":

For the last choice it was tough, just so many choices... Then I saw @geneeverett do a post on the Beastie Boys and it all became clear. The Beastie Boys were a hip hop/rap/ rock band with a string of hits since the mid 1980's. In 2012 band member Adam Yauch sadly died of cancer and the band disbanded. One of their hits was a song called "Girls", it a really fun song to listen to and you've probably heard it before. Here's "Girls":

I hope you enjoyed my trio of songs today, all great songs at the time they were written (and still are today in my opinion.) The world today has definitely changed but you shouldn't try to cancel/ change the past. Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it... Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and thank you for taking the time to stop by and listen.

The day I heard that MCA passed away was a sad day on my timeline on this planet. Many of my formative years was spent listening to the sweet sounds of the Beastie Boys. Back when you bought the album not knowing whether you knew it was going to be a hit or a dud, they never disappointed.

They always managed to put out entertaining material, it's a lot of what made them so good!

I grew up in the 80's and now even the 90's are offensive. Seinfeld and Friends are both considered offensive... I don't get it...

All cool songs. Especially Queen and Crue. I am a big Crue fan and loved them when I was a teenager. The Girls, Girls, Girls album was awesome! Suprised all of them are still alive after all their shenanigans.

I'm a huge Crue fan too, and it's amazing that none of them are dead. Nikki Sixx did his best to do it with heroine but miraculously survived. Girls, Girls, Girls was a great album!

Yeaah, I think the song kIck Start My Heart from the Dr, FeelGood album was based on his heart attack when he overdosed.

I thought they were three fun songs, I still can't believe Queen caved into pressure to leave off Fat Bottomed Girls though. Cancel culture makes no sense to me...

Three great picks -- my favorite of them being Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls." Queen had so many incredible songs. Darn shame Freddie Mercury died. Motley Crue and Beastie Boys cranked out some solid hits in their day.🎤🎹🎸

Wasn't that a great song? It really was a shame to lose such a talented singer so young. Thank you so much!

Yes, it's one of many terrific Queen hits. If only Freddie had lived a few more years, HIV treatments became available that could have saved him...

Very, very true. Just look a Magic Johnson, has lived a long life despite HIV!

All about Girls this week? Can't argue with that 😁 Fat bottomed girls is one of my mom's favourite songs. Can't understand why, her bottom was never anything but skinny 🤣

Those are some great songs you picked there. I was disappointed with the Queen movie that came out a while ago because I was hoping they would go into more detail about the story behind some of the songs. Specifically Fat Bottomed Girls. It's probably one of their best in my opinion. I remember when 2 Live Crew came out and everyone was freaking out about them. Man I am old!

On the old front me and you both.... I didn't see the Queen movie, but it's a shame they didn't cover Fat Bottomed Girls. It really is one of their best songs. 2LiveCrew, wow, it's been a couple of years hasn't it?

For sure. You can really tell the hard partying took a toll on the Crue. I saw them live on the stadium tour a year or so ago and they sounded horrible.

Vince Neil hasn't held up well... Too many years of partying and heavy drinking! They sure don't sound as good as they used to!

Nope, not even close. Poison didn't sound that great either, but Brett still had a lot of energy. Def Leppard was the stand out for me. They were just as good as ever.

Def Leppard still has it put together, but others just aren't what they used to be. Especially Axl Rose...
