RE: Hive-Naija Weekend Engagement #15 - "Asuu Strike"

As a Student what do you think about the strike?

Honestly i don't know where to start from, this strike is nothing to write home about. In 2020 we Asuu embarked on 8 months strike causing us to loose one academic year.
1 year later the strike is on again with one month warning strike, which the federal set up a committee to look into the demands for 3 months more.

If i am not mistaking that's a whole semester gone, to be honest i am tired as a student, yes Asuu is righ to demand what is theirs and my blame goes to the federal government of Nigeria.
Common how much revenue does the government generate everyday from crude oil that can't pay twice Asuu demand?
Nigeria currently is seeing not less than $8billion dollars from crude oil exportation this past week alone.

Asuu is demanding for there right and the government I gambling with our future, I should have been in my 4th or final year by now but i just barely finished the 200level before the strike commenced.

Who did we offend in this country? Why us our educational system so poor?

The same government gambling with our future send their children outside the country for better education because they know how much they have messed up the system.

A course of 5years might take you 10years if care is not taken, and then after all the frustration you go for a job interview and they tell you they won't hire anyone older than 24 or 25 years old.

Wickedness of the highest order, now tell me how can someone that got admission at the age of 20years old be able to study a five years course, serve and then be able to meet up with the age criteria?

I don't want to even talk about the extra 1 year wasted serving a country that has no plan for your future.

Monsters in human form called leaders, they call us lazy and unintelligent youths. But how can you be able to study with the education system acting like nepa light?
Who would have the zeal to read his/her book within this 3 months or so rather than looking for something to do in order to earn some money? And when the brain is cold you would call us back to come and study, read what exactly? After how many months of having a full brain.

The government has made every student in Nigeria not to have plans for there life because one way or the other they would screw up your plans.
Now the strike is ongoing and many students have gone to look for a job, you manage to get a job the next thing the strike has been called off. A year later they embark on abother strip due to lack of proper attention of the government in the education system.

It's a pity

I am tired of the whole stress, school is just weighing every student down. Check how many times you wrote jamb sum it with the number of years you have stayed in school, you will see if you had gone into business? You would have been able to achieve something tangible by now

This whole educational system is just fucked. Me I've already decided that I'll finish school eventually, but I won't make it a priority to do white collar job. School is just going to be like extra qualifications.

Lol 😂
I swear you nailed
I never had a white collar job in mind going to school also, that's why i picked a course i loved from my childhood. I went in for civil engineering, specifically building because i can't wake up by 6am to get to the office before 8am and then leave by 5pm to get home by 9pm everyday and being underpaid.
It's disheartening , that's if you actually see the job oo 😂😂

Its a pity for all. I pity myself cos I am studying a 5 year course. Those medicine students, God go help them. Although, they are really favoured cos they'd be using the time for due practicals and all. @uzuka
