Embracing Integrity: The Timeless Virtue We Must All Uphold

This world is full of lot of humans with different of characters both good and bad even though there are some which are visible, there are some who manage to hide theirs like green snake in green grass. In life, we all must have a virtue that define us, like someone once said, they serve as the core driving force that shows who we truly are and no matter how we try to hide it, it always find a way out like smoke covered with cloths. One virtue I believe everyone should have is Integrity, in a simple definition Integrity is best know as the ability to do the right thing under no one supervision, which means you know what to do and when to do it without anyone acknowledging you to do them. This virtue along covered many things and it is one of the virtue most people lack because it always prevent people from doing some certain things.

I put this virtue as the master of all virtue because it is based on some certain pillars and if this pillars are strong enough, there is nothing that can break it, not even adversity, greed or temptations. The first pillar of integrity is Honesty which is based on being truthful to everyone around us and even to ourselves, like they use to say, truth is bitter and always hard to say. I once remembered how they use to tell us stories when we were young that is circled on being honest with each other, I remembered the one about a shepherd boy who made a false cry to the villagers about wolf attacking his sheep just to amused himself and have fun, the villagers came running and was shocked to see it as a false cry, but when the real wolf attacked him and he cried for help, no one listen to him, he wasn't honest enough with those around him and he lost everything.

Authenticity is another pillar of integrity and it means been truthful to yourself without allowing any societal pressure to change how you feel, people really lack authenticity and allow peer pressure to really have negative effect, the rate of peer pressure is really much nowadays both in young and old and it make people go out of their ways to do some certain things that aren't right just to belong or impress those around them, that make them engage in illegal things especially when it come to finding money, they prey on those that will fall to their deceit just to take what belong to them, taking the politicians as a sample, they lack the major pillar of integrity and take what belongs to others just for their own personal gain yet leaving the citizens to suffer and have hard times surviving and I use to wonder what if we all are honest with each other, will the world be a better place.

Having integrity is everything to me, like I said, once you are someone with integrity, you will find it really hard to do something you aren't suppose to do especially when you know it isn't the right time to do, I have been been hurt a lot though but most times I always forgive them and make amend, we are make mistakes and we aren't perfect.
