Hotels And Their Overrated Foods

At times I use to wonder, why hotel foods are always expensive yet little, the why is a big question with no answer probably but to make extra cash and profit. Even though I count myself as a foodie since I eat anytime I want as long as I'm hungry, I know where I will visit to eat and where I won't even bother looking twice. I have this belief that if I can't eat to my satisfaction or solve my food cravings, then why am I hustling so much to make money, food is life. Eating in an hotel is a no for me on many occasion unless I just feel like treating myself special, in this economy, I have to recheck my pocket/wallet well enough.

I remember back in the days especially in the university when we only receive little amount of money as our pocket money and we have to manage it really well since there is no where another pocket money will come from if we spend the one we had carelessly, so since food is important, I do make sure I find a cheap bukka (food canteen) around my area. Canteen food have lot of advantages and some disadvantage, their food is always cheap, very much in quantity but you will be lucky to find the one that is really sweet, there are only selected ones and I do wonder how they manage to cook that much.

I remember when I went to a meetup with a friend of mine back in the days in benin city, it was really a long journey moving from Sagamu to Benin and we had to take early morning bus since the meetup was around 12pm in the afternoon and we thought we will be there before the time or at least before 1pm. It was a stressful journey though with some traffic because a truck fell on the road, we manage to reach the meetup around 2pm and it ended around 6pm in the evening, we couldn't go back home and we had no friend that is even willing to accommodate us that day, so we left while trying to find the nearest hotel using google map. The city felt somehow since we didn't see any bike and we had to trek just to trace the map path. we got to the hotel 30mins after and we ask for the price, that was my first time visiting a hotel, they told us a room was 20k, I was shocked since our budget wasn't up to that, we had to beg the receptionist that night or we will be sleeping outside or go over budget, since we are kind of jovial, she agreed to take 18k, I had to ask them if it is with our food for the night and they said no. So we are only having bed and roof over our head for 18k, I said jokingly and we laugh.

They show us the way to the hotel restaurant section and even told us we can order from out room, I went there just to check their food price and I made my decision immediately, I won't be eating here. Told my friend also that there are way cheaper food outside and one will be satisfy, we drop our loads in the room and dash out to find where to eat and luckily for use we saw a food canteen right beside the hotel, went in and order for rice, beans, egg, meats combo then a bottle of pepsi. Everything cost only 2k, we ate and went back to the hotel smiling, even though hotel food have this kind of sweet smell that can make you salivate but you have to think more than the sweet smell at times.
