Monkey and Steamboat

There lived Monkey in the rainforest,
Cheerful, playful and clever.
She dreamed about sea voyage
And about distant exotic islands.

One day, Monkey saw Steamboat on the bank of the river.
Huge, powerful and very majestic,
It had giant wheels rolling on its sides,
And the smoke from the chimney soared into the sky.

Monkey decided to sit on Steamboat
And fearlessly climbed the mast.
Joyfully jumping, as if in a game,
She began to look at the people on deck.

Passengers were frightened when they saw Monkey on the mast.
They were screaming and fussing and didn't know what to do.
Monkey, frightened, quickly got down from the mast
And hid in the depths of the dark hold.

But suddenly a cheerful melody sounded,
And Monkey realized that everything all right with Steamboat.
She jumped out on deck again
And began to dance and laugh merrily.

People smiled when they saw her joy,
And welcomed cheerful Monkey.
They realized that the world exists not only for them,
And joy can be shared with other beings.

So Monkey settled on Steamboat,
And together with other passengers, sailed into the ocean.
She saw distant lands and wonderful islands
And realized that sometimes dreams do come true.

Everyone was fine until Steamboat reached country of cannibals.
There, in bloody meat grinder, only Monkey survived from all passengers,
And of course Steamboat, because it was inedible too.
"Now do you understand why you were on board?" - he asked.
“I ended up here by accident, I was just lucky!” - replied Monkey.
"Naive girl..." - croaked Steamboat and set off on the return journey.
