Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge — Back to School: Acing Campaign Mode at Waur Medge Academy

SPL Weekly.png

HELLO to all Splinterlands readers of my humble blog.👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻 Welcome to yet another week of the "new" iteration of the Splinterlands Weekly Challenges 😜. The "old" Battle Challenges are now a thing of the past (at least for now?) and they have been replaced with this week's "Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Campaign Mode – Book 1: Waur Medge Academy".

For any old Hivers/Splinterlands players who've just come back and are confused, fret not! Even with the name and format tweaks, right at it's core, battles are still the foundation of these posts.

In this week's edition of my Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Campaign Mode – Book 1: Waur Medge Academy, I will do something drastically different from my usual battle showcases. Instead of war, I will become a peaceful teacher showing all new players how to most effectively navigate the topic of "Campaign Mode – Book 1: Waur Medge Academy".

The gates to Waur Medge Academy have just swung open, and Campaign Mode is officially live—offering new players an immersive, earn-as-you-learn PvE adventure that drops Foundation cards right into your deck. Think of it as Splinterlands’ ultimate crash course: from mastering basic tactics to unlocking Glint rewards, Book 1 has everything you need to dive into Ranked battles with confidence. Whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned summoner looking to sharpen your fundamentals, this week we’ll explore every nook of Campaign Mode, unpack the strategic takeaways, and reflect on what it means for the broader Splinterlands ecosystem.

That being said, here's some tips and tricks from Yours Truly which will hopefully help any new player who comes across this guide. Read on to find out more! 😜

With all that being said, here is how I would advice ALL players on how you can capitalize on some of these simple strategies!

🔮 🎓 Waur Medge Academy: Campaign Mode Primer

  • • Earn Foundation Cards
As you conquer each of the 11 interactive chapters, you steadily assemble a curated set of Foundation cards that replaces the old starter lineup. These cards are designed to illustrate core mechanics—each new unit reinforces lessons on positioning, buffs, and elemental matchups. Personally, I find it refreshing: instead of random starter packs, you get a hand-picked arsenal that scales with your skill level. The implication here is huge: by the time you finish Book 1, you’re not fumbling with weak freebies—you’ve built a coherent deck that feels genuinely yours. And because these cards are soulbound, you can experiment freely without worrying about market value or bleeding DEC.

  • • Jump Straight into Ranked
One of Campaign Mode’s smartest moves is making Foundation cards tournament-legal from the get-go. There’s no awkward “silver playing gold league” moment—once Book 1 wraps up, you’re equipped for Bronze, Silver, or even Gold rank. I remember back in the day how frustrating it was to grind low-power decks just to qualify; Campaign Mode fast-tracks you past that barrier, letting you focus on tactic refinement instead of card collection woes. Strategically, this levels the playing field for new players and keeps them engaged—no more quitting out of boredom before even tasting Ranked victory.

  • • Rack Up Free Glint
Alongside cards, every chapter hands out Glint rewards, transforming your tutorial runs into a mini-economy. Watching my Glint balance climb as I blazed through puzzles felt like unlocking secret bonus levels in an RPG. Beyond the immediate gratification, those Glint tokens become fuel for future expansions—perhaps snagging wild-format passes, new packs, or even that promo card you’ve been eyeing. The broader implication is that Splinterlands is reinforcing a self-sustaining loop: you learn, you earn, you reinvest, and you grow—then you teach the next wave of players the same cycle.

  • • Foundations Under the Hood
Foundation cards are soulbound and don’t contribute to collection power or land yield—yet they’re fully usable in nearly every game mode. That design choice keeps the economy balanced: veterans aren’t undercut by a flood of free power, and newcomers still feel potent without destabilizing markets. From my perspective, it’s a masterstroke. It respects the time and investment of long-time players while giving rookies a real fighting chance. Strategically, it encourages players to stake SPS for rewards rather than rely solely on tutorial drops, maintaining healthy token sinks and ecosystem sustainability.

  • • Teasers for Phase 2
Word on the cobblestones is that Phase 2 will unlock tradability, combinability, and even Foundation booster packs. Imagine collecting presold Foundation packs on the market or combining soulbound cards to boost stats—suddenly, those tutorial rewards gain real secondary value. I’m already drooling at the thought of early adopters trading their boosted Foundation cards and capturing profits. The implication is that savvy players who dive into Book 1 now will stand to benefit twice: in improved skill and potential marketplace flips. It’ll also inject a fresh wave of trading activity, breathing new life into the economy.

🏁 Conclusion

Campaign Mode at Waur Medge Academy isn’t just a tutorial—it’s Splinterlands’ most thoughtful onboarding yet, seamlessly blending education, rewards, and long-term strategy. By earning targeted Foundation cards, stepping straight into Ranked play, racking up Glint, and peeking at future tradability, new and returning players alike gain real value. Personally, I can’t wait to see how this shapes the next generation of summoners—and the market gameplan that follows. So crack open that Play menu, enroll in Book 1, and let Waur Medge Academy forge you into a true Splinterlands scholar. See you on the frontlines!
