Marine safety: It's no joke

One life jacket for each person the boat is licensed to carry. That's the law here, one that is enforced quite strictly. Penalties include fines and loss of equipment, i.e. the boat. Quite clearly that's not the case in Vietnam where I snapped this picture. I suppose they could have 35 or so lifejackets stowed away somewhere however it seems unlikely considering how loaded the boat is. This begs the question...Have they not seen the movie Titanic? We all know what happened on that occasion right?

You know in Winnie the Pooh, where Pooh and Christopher Robin cruise around in an umbrella as a boat? I think maybe that is the plan for some of those ladies up there.

Ah yes, the old save your life with an umbrella ploy. Works every time!

I think you should work on your tags a little more. This should be tagged sarcasm not humor.

I'll tag my post about the tag-police as sarcasm ok?

Oh, by the way...Nice way to encourage an insignificantly small account. Empowering huh?

Earlier this year a tour boat sank in Hungary with 30 Korean Tourists aboard who were not wearing life jackets and most of them drowned. A few years ago a cruise ship went down in Korea and hundred of high school students who were aboard the ship drowned.

But yeah...drowning is humor and disregarding safety is meme-worthy.

I don't care how small your account is. I didn't even flag you and you start to act like a victim who deserves some sort of pity when you are making jokes about boatloads of people dying.

Sounds like Korea needs to revise marine safety standards - Enforce life jacket-wearing.

Definitely. There are serious avoidable safety concerns in most places I've been. No seat belts on school buses in North America is one of them.

Bad things happen...History will attest to that.
