The Daily Meme #375!

The world is increasingly becoming authoritarian.
How many accounts have to be canceled before we wake up to the electonic surveillance we are under at this very moment?

The cancelattions started years ago, maybe you are too mainstream to have noticed.
That doesn't change the facts presented in this article.

What Sort of Surveillance Tools Do Police Use?

by DGR News Service | Mar 4, 2022

Editor’s note: People who confront the destruction of the planet find a legal system that prioritizes corporations and not uncommonly become the targets of police surveillance.
Unless we take precautions, police surveillance tools can uncover our plans and organizational structures—and can contribute to a culture of paranoia that discourages action.

This training, from the Freedom of the Press Foundation, consists of interactive materials for learning what sort of tools law enforcement agencies use against journalists, but the material is practically applicable for organizers as well.
We encourage our readers to study this material and consider appropriate countermeasures.

The Digital Security Training team at Freedom of the Press Foundation works with news organizations to better protect themselves, their colleagues, and sources by upgrading their security posture.
In an environment where journalists are increasingly under attack, experiencing targeted hacking, harassment, and worse, we want to see systemic change in the way news organizations learn about and address their digital security concerns.
While journalists come from many professional backgrounds, one place we can most reliably address this need for digital security education systemically is within journalism schools, where students are already learning many of the skills they will need in a contemporary newsroom.
We know many programs feel underprepared for education of this kind, so we built this curriculum to better support J-schools’ goals for digital security education.

Google tracks all of this and you don't get paid for it.

@Actifit does as well here on the blockchain and we get paid for it!!!!

This is why I love crypto-powered social networks. It's a WASTE to continue using devices or social networks that's don't pay you for it.

Exactly and then on top of it you can also get investments going that start to pay you for helping out communities...

This entire blockchain experiment has given me a lot of confidence in myself and my own value as well.

Thank you very much blockchain.

Facebook, Google, YouTube, all your internet service providers and cellphones:
"Every breath you take
And every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I'll be watching you
Every single day
And every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
I'll be watching you"

It's Ironic that the lyrics are from "The Police".

The city I used to live in had cameras on every corner.
When I came back to it a couple years later, the cameras were gone.
I figure the chip readers were taking care of it all.
They were on the light posts with solar panels for power.

It's interesting talking about surveillance but then promoting discord servers. I was trying to have a conversation with some Hive DR'ers and they keep trying to get me to join their discord to talk about how they are good for Hive. I don't understand why that conversation can't be fully explored on chain.

I'm beginning to think that these people might not be Drs at all. I might have to call an ethics board for practicing metasin without a license or something.

promoting discord servers.

Yeah, I got my element room listed first, but folks want change, but not to change.
Did you want to join it?

I don't understand why that conversation can't be fully explored on chain.

People like their privacy so they can tryout thoughts that may change.

Lol, dr=downvote rewards, but our reward bot dev hasn't made the transition to hive, yet.

The Dev you speak of could not keep it going on steem either. It was constant never ending problems from that code. Had no desire to make things run properly ever!

Maybe it is time to find a dev that cares about what is going on?

There are some great coders like @krnel he can code something better much faster or even @reazuliqbal could do it while sleeping.

BTW this guy needs to be onboarded he needs some exposure https://tritorch.com/boiling/ https://tritorch.com/shakedown/ Seems to have some idea of what is happening.

I hear people complain about a lack of devs but I know several devs who are on the blockchain already. People with rotten carrots are often quick to blame the horse. It has to do with the centralization problems and perverse incentive structure. I remember some time ago even some of the other deva who have recognition and are doing work on chain were complaining almost all the HDF was being allocated to smooth. People should look into more aspects instead of just manpower. The churn rate is already bad enough with general users, if you cycle devs out like that you end up with spaghetti and then lasagna code. Sounds delicious until you actually look into what the consequences of that is. Maybe they should consider different nomenclature for that.

@antisocialist You have interesting friends. Tried to participate in a conversation on a comment thread I started then get told I'm flagged because I wasn't on topic with their pivot and I have no idea what being on topic is. Nice community you have here. I have been really interested in growing the chain and adding value here but people like this make it easy to appreciate why I only put a couple hundred dollars in. Its throw away money just like the chain. If you're so interested in privacy, maybe you should involve yourself with a decent privacy project like zcash. Idiots here made Hive's futures DoA.

Lol, we got a motley crew, for sure.
Blocktrades has privacy on the long term roadmap, but it will like be some time before he starts working on it full time.

Don't mind stan, he is who he is, and that's not all bad.
At least, you get an honest opinion from him.
That is fairly rare in the broader population.

He complained I barged into an AB conversation on my thread. It's a public forum. I may have misunderstood his point but that could be due to poor phrasing and I had no idea that it was a private conversation in my comments. I feel like there could be a footer indicating that you two were having like people put at the end of their posts to shill or circle jerk whatever. Or you guys could just use one of your spyware discord servers or whatever.

Yeah, 'muricans are funny like that.
Very different from europeans.
Even from canadians.

I think I was more shocked by it at the time. Now that I have some distance from it, I can appreciate the comedic value.
