You touched on the hard fork from Steemit but based on the title of your blog post that should have been explored more. Decentralization was the main reason behind the fork. Justin Sun took the position that he "owned" the Steem blockchain. The May 20, 2020 Steem hard fork froze accounts of Steem users that opposed Justin Sun's hostile takeover
