The Decentralization of Hive
Greetings to my Cent Family and everyone on the Hive Blockchain. I usually start my posts earlier than this but for today I had a few things to do before. I'm always excited to share thoughts about technology and life with everyone and I'm grateful this platform allows me to do just that.
Well in today's blog post I'll be talking about the very platform that gives me as a blogger the chance to share my blogs. Yep, I'm talking about everyone's favourite ; Hive and its Decentralized nature.

Now a lot of people in sometime past and even now still complain about the centralization of power on these giant social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and TikTok.
The effect of centralization has been felt by basically every blogger online. I remember when I used to post regularly on Facebook which well it's not happening anymore since I joined Hive. I use to do quite a lot of research on topics that will trend, topics that the Facebook algorithms will boost and topics that people like. I believe the stuff they call SEO right.
I realized that as a blogger, I couldn't quite express myself as effectively as I wanted to because I always had to get topics Facebook prefers and not the value that I really wanted to share with my readers and follows. I guess that's the downside of centralization. All the power and control is under the Facebook organization and they basically determined who goes viral and who doesn't regardless of the quality of the post.
So in a centralized world like that, you could have low quality posts going viral and high quality posts having very low and almost miserable views or interactions.
This is why the issue of centralization needed to be addressed and well Hive had the solution. Of course Hive came after Steemit as a fork project by in my honest opinion, it seems to have gained more value than Steemit. Basically the Hive token is currently worth more than the Steem token and I believe there are more active communities on Hive than on Steemit.
The Decentralization of Hive opens up a new world of possibilities that platforms like Facebook or Twitter doesn't have. Truly, Hive has changed the game.
Now Firstly, Hive as a social platform operates on the concept of Blockchain technology. It is basically a social media website that has been built on top of a Blockchain technology called the Hive Blockchain. Hive Blog is the frontend and their Blockchain is the backend. Hive is essentially a community as well.
One big advantage of the Decentralized nature of Hive is the content control. As a Hive user, I have been given absolute control over the posts I make literally, including this very post. The posts I make are basically stored on the Hive Blockchain. Now being on the Blockchain would mean that it would be difficult for any organization, person or even the government to censor it. What do I mean by that?
Well I don't know if you ever heard in a news feed or on a social media platform of companies like Facebook or Twitter taking down people's posts or accounts just because they tried to speak a truth that was against their interest. It really does happen. Donald trump was literally banned from Facebook and Instagram a couple of years ago.
Now I'm not speaking for anyone but the point I'm trying to make is that the system of Decentralization and Hive Blockchain actually resists content censorship giving more freedom to the content creators or bloggers to share their honest opinions, however maintaining respect to everyone.
A piece of advice, when you post on Hive, just be respectful and follow the rules of each community to avoid getting down voted.
Another major thing that really separates Hive from other centralized platforms like Facebook or Twitter is the reward system they established. Thanks to Blockchain technology, Hive is able to reward its content creators and curators with their very own cryptocurrency called Hive Tokens. They also have HBD which is basically Hive pegged to the US dollar.
As a content creator when I share my post, if my readers love it they give it an upvote. Based on the Hive Power, HP of my user, (which is basically how much Hive tokens you have locked up for about 3 months on Hive) I receive a reward on my post. At the end of a 7 day period from the very time of my posting, I get to claim the rewards. It is split into half, one part for the content creator and the other part shared amongst all the curators based on the amount they contributed.
This is simply a brilliant idea and concept. Now I said split into two, which means the curators also get their cut of the upvotes rewards. This literally means you get paid to like a post which you would have appreciated for free anyways.
Do you remember the time you earned a single "cent" for liking posts on Facebook? NOPE🚩 😂. Trust me guys, if you're not a Hiver yet, it would be pretty smart to join.
Another Truth is that Hive is really not like other platforms that earn seriously from the work of their content creators. There's literally no middleman taking advantage of the hard work of the content creators. Super neat right? 🥰
Now another very awesome thing about Hive's Decentralized nature is that it lets the users make the decisions about the platform's future. The users themselves are the ones developing the platform.
The code to the Hive Blockchain is an open source code. This means that virtually anyone with programming knowledge can contribute to the development of the Blockchain. This is why we have so many DAPPs that is making Hive even more successful than before. So we now have platforms like Ecency, LeoFinance, 3speak and many others all connected to the Hive Blockchain.
The community keeps thriving every single day with new members joining all the time and making thier introductory posts. Because Hive allows for users to contribute too the development of the entire platforms, it fosters innovation and transparency.
The Decentralization of Hive sets it apart from traditional centralized social platforms like Facebook and Twitter. The users have all the control and all the benefits of their work. The users determines the future of Hive and so their interest is never neglected. All of this while earning in cryptocurrency which can skyrocket in value in the future. This is an absolute win-win for all content Creators and Curators.
Thanks for taking the time to read my blog post to the end guys. I really appreciate the time you spend to check out my content. I hope you enjoyed this one. As always, I'm open for any comment or suggestion regarding this blog post. Have a lovely day guys. See you next time. Bye❤️

You touched on the hard fork from Steemit but based on the title of your blog post that should have been explored more. Decentralization was the main reason behind the fork. Justin Sun took the position that he "owned" the Steem blockchain. The May 20, 2020 Steem hard fork froze accounts of Steem users that opposed Justin Sun's hostile takeover

Wow, unfortunately I wasn't to all of the details, but I'll go read from the link you showed me and other sources and prepare a special post for this topic. Thanks so much for the assistance
No problem. This is another link to a Cointelegraph article published back in March 2020. It goes more into the details about the hostile takeover of Steem by Justin Sun.

Wow it must be a great source, I'm going to read extensively to create a post for which I'll tag your name if possible by your permission
Yes, you have my permission to tag me @holovision in your post.
For a "fair and balanced" blog post if you'd like a primary source for your research to get Justin Sun's side of the story and quotes his Steemit account is https://steemit.com/@justinsunsteemit.
Thanks so much for all these sources, I'll be doing my research immediately
