How Do You Eat Mangosteen?

This morning, my friend came from his hometown in Tasik Malaya. Tasik is a small town in the West Java. He brought some fruits for me. They are mangoesteens. Mangoesteen in my country is called manggis. The latin name is (Garcinia mangostana ).

Mangoesteen has much antioxidant. The taste mixed between sweet and sour. Each fruit usually has five or six seed. The color of the skin is purple. The skin is thick but not edible. The flesh of the fruit is white. It is tender. You should swallow with the seed to eat mangoesteen.

The shape of the fruit is like grenade. There are four petals on the stem of the fruit.

The tree of mangoesteen is 7 to 25 metters. It can be decades old.Mangosteen is a rare fruit today. Not all fruits stall provide mangosteens in their racks.

You can find mangosteen in big fruit shops. The price is also quiet expensive because the fruit is not easy to get. Mangoesteen is a tropical fruit. It will bear fruits once in a year.
