Hello everyone! Today marks the start of a new month which is also the monthly HPUD or Hive Power Up Day. It is an initiative that occurs at the start of each month that aims to get as much people to power up Hive. Powering up brings benefits to the users of Hive. It increases our curation power as well as our vote for governance.

Voting Power

The more Hive Power (HP) the user has, the greater the value of his voting power. So if we add more to our HP, the value of our vote will increase. Since we also earn from curating posts, this means that our rewards will also increase. In this way, we can support the communities and content that we like on Hive.

Governance

Governance involves our votes on Witnesses and Proposals. Witness ranking determines who is part of the witness pool while Proposals determines if funding are to be given out to certain DHF proposals.

All governance votes are determined by HP. Similarly, the more HP, the greater the impact of our votes on Witness and DHF Proposals. As users with staked Hive, we can influence decisions based on the amount of HP we have.

My Activities on Hive

I'm an active Splinterlands player. It's actually the game that introduced me to Hive. Later on, I also became an active blogger and content creator mainly about Splinterlands stuff. I also post about other games like #arcadecolony, #moon and #risingstargame. Other topics I write about are photography, travel and movies.

Aside from games, I also have some second level tokens on Hive engine. These are promising projects that I support such as GIFU by @raymondspeaks, BBHO by @bradleyarrow and CENT by @anadolu.

July 2025 HPUD

For this month's HPUD, I will be powering up 4,400+ Hive.

Due to the low price of Hive, I converted my HBD to Hive. I also bought Hive externally and transferred it to my Hive account for today's power up. This will bring my total HP to 12,000+. I also reached my #saturdaysavers goal of reaching 10k Hive this year. This is an initiative hosted by @eddie-earner's and @susie-saver.

What's Next?

At the start of the year, I set my goal to reach Dolphin and have 10,000 Hive. I have now achieved both goals. Next, I'll continue powering up my account and setting a new goal for Hive. I'm revising my goal to 15,000 HP this year from 10,000 HP. Next year, my target will be 25,000 HP. While it's far from reaching Orca status, I hope to reach that level one day.
