Dolphin and Lawyer (fable)

Dolphin and Lawyer

By seashore, where waves play,
There lived Dolphin, he had fun in water.
He jumped like basketball player in azure waters,
He whistled merrily and was incredibly graceful.

Lawyer was respected in all city,
He defended his clients rights as if they were his own.
In court he handled important and complicated cases,
He knew laws like the back of his hand.

One day Dolphin and Lawyer met on the shore,
Where sea and city come together closely.

Dolphin said: "You live in world of words and papers,
And I live in waves, I am completely free."

Lawyer smiled and answered Dolphin:
"In any case, you obey laws of nature,
And I work with laws of society,
You and I are alike in many ways."

"I doubt it, - answered Dolphin. -
I live in sea, and you live on land."

"This is just formal difference, try to look deeper.
You save drowning people, and I help those in need."

"I’m not saving anyone, I’m pretending," - admitted Dolphin.

"Well, me too," - nodded Lawyer.

"Sometimes I deliberately drown those who are drowning."

"Me too," - nodded Lawyer.

"And sometimes I do something worse, - Dolphin whispered. -
Perhaps you've read about some cases..."

"Tell me more about this," - said Lawyer, turning on recorder.

The original text was written by me in Russian. I haven't studied English systematically, so translation may not be ideal. The main work was done by Google Translate, I just corrected obvious absurdities, where I noticed them and where I did not confuse them with brilliant insights.
