Hive Feature Request : Notification Bell Icon

Greetings to my Cent Family and all of Hive. I am @skyehi and I'm happy to share my proposal with everyone. I would have written my proposal casually but by reading the standard template shared by "blocktrades" on how to make proposals, I will follow suit.

Well my Feature Proposal is quite simple. I propose a notification bell icon feature. This is where users who follow content creators can be notified when those creators release a new post. This is basically just like YouTube Notification bell Icon.

The benefits of this feature to Hive and other DAPPs like LeoFinance and Ecency is endless. It's going to improve user engagement. It is going to ensure that followers don't miss the post of their favourite creators. This level of user engagement I believe is good for the Hive Blockchain.

Let me now follow the standard template of a proposal

This blog post is more like a suggestion to @leo.voter , @ecency and all other leaders of DAPPS social platforms on Hive. I would like to mention the name of my favourite witness @arcange. I would also like to mention a good friend @blue.rabbit who is very supportive of good work and content.

Project Description

In the ever progressing world of social media, staying connected with your favorite content creators is very necessary. There are a lot of content creators and different social media platforms all trying to get the attention of people.

User engagement on Hive is very important if we want to keep the users on Hive.

To enhance the user experience on Hive, I @skyehi propose the introduction of a Notification Bell feature. No different from what is being done on the very famous Video Streaming platform called, YouTube.

This feature will notify the followers and subscribers whenever the content creators they follow make a new post, which would ensure that users stay up-to-date with the latest content from the creators on Hive.

Of course just like on YouTube, the bell icon feature can be turned on or off by the user if they decide to do so.

Benefits Of this Feature to the Hive Blockchain

Improved User Engagement:

The Notification Bell Feature will bring about greater user engagement on Hive by keeping followers informed and always notified about new posts from their content creators. This can eventually lead to more comments, upvotes, and interactions on the platform. All of which will grow user engagement and the overall value of Hive Blockchain and all it DAPPs.

Improved User Experience

No this will bring a great advantage for users on Hive. Usually, users manually check the profiles of their favorite content creators to see if they have shared a new post. Since users will now be notified on new posts, they will know if the creators have shared posts. This would mean users will no longer need to manually check content creators' profiles for updates. This will make Hive Interaction more convenient for Hive users, increasing their Trust and frequency in visiting Hive sites.

Increased Content Visibility

Now this feature will not only be beneficial to the users or content consumers but also beneficial to the content creators as well. By implementing this feature, it will greatly increase content visibility of creators. Since a lot of their followers may have the notification bell turned on for them, every single post they make will have the followers notified. The followers will now conveniently check the new post through the notification bar and give feedback or upvotes if they desire to do so.

This means potentially higher post rewards and recognition for the content creators. As a content creator I know this will greatly encourage us to keep posting more and more quality posts on Hive.

Costs of Getting the Feature Update

Well the development and integration of the notification bell Icon feature into the Hive Blockchain or social media platform will definitely incur some costs. The costs will probably be related to software development. The main developers behind Hive Blockchain will probably need to be paid to integrate the feature, test the effectiveness and ensure there's no bugs. They will also be paid for deployment.

Unfortunately since I'm unaware of the exact main developers behind Hive Blockchain itself, I cannot currently estimate the cost at this point. But I'm sure if this proposal is accepted, the cost will definitely be worth all the benefits it will bring to Hive and its users.

Labor to Get the Feature

The dedicated and committed developers and development team behind the Hive Blockchain will probably be responsible for integrating the notification bell icon feature.

The reason why it can only be done by the Hive Blockchain main developers is because this is not just another DAPP or community development. This has to affect the entire Hive Blockchain so that even notifications from DAPPs like LeoFinance or Ecency will also have the notification Bell Icon Feature. However to get into details of the developers needed; it would probably include backend developers, UI or UX designers to design the notification bar and Hive Logo next to it.

The design may even include the profile picture of the content creator who's post is being notified to his or her followers. The work will also involve testers to test the quality of the feature update or implementation and ensure there's no bugs.

Equipment Required

Well developing and implementing the notification bell Icon feature will be a programming work. Therefore it would require software development tools or equipments. Programming software or IDE needed to write the codes of this feature. Well this Feature update will not really require any other serious equipment besides programing tools.

Expected Completion Date if the Proposal is Accepted

Well if my luck shines and this proposal is accepted, I believe the estimated date or time to have this feature integrated, tested and certified will probably be about three to four months. I'm hoping it could be less though.

Project Summary

Now the main aim of this feature proposal is to improve and enhance the user experience of users of Hive. The feature will keep the followers updated of new posts of their favorite content creators. It will make checking new posts more convenient for everyone.

This will increase upvotes, comments, interaction and feedback to posts on Hive. Overall it will increase user engagement and definitely foster growth of the user base of the Hive Blockchain

What Happens if the Proposal Becomes Unfunded?

Well if my luck doesn't shine in the very unfortunate event that my proposal doesn't get accepted or receive funding, the development and integration of the notification bell Icon feature will either be postponed or sadly cancelled.

The reason is that it's all in the hands of the main developers behind Hive Blockchain.

However, I can eventually fund my own frontend of Hive just like LeoFinance, PeakD or Ecency and hopefully be able to integrate this feature. It will only be available for users that will use Hive through that DAPP like LeoFinance.

I personally think LeoFinance, Ecency, PeakD and other DAPPs of Hive can make good use of this feature in their Platform. Let me know what you think about this idea guys. 🥰
