Splinterlands season 40 report - Big things are coming with Ranked Battle Overhaul

(Image from Splinterlands and edited in Canva)
Hello all Splinters,
I'm here to share my late Splinterlands diary.
I have a lot of activities during Lunar New Year so I didn't have enough time to share any reports during that time. I will try to catch up on the progress.
In this season, I didn't get any GF cards but I got a good amount of summoner cards. It is really good for me, especially when the ranked battle overhaul is launched in the coming days.

This is also my entry for Weekly Challenge this week 👍

1.SPS earning

  • I got ~430 staked SPS from ranked battle/ daily and EOS / brawl rewards and Nightmare packs this season ✅ This season again is a good season for SPS staked earning.
  • Starting from Jan 2024, I changed my working location, which requires me to sit on the shuttle bus for 1.5hrs to arrive my workplace. So I have more time to play the game while sitting on the shuttle bus. That's why I get more SPS from ranked battles.

2. DEC earning

  • After some consolidation, my earning is still on an increasing trend 😀
  • But I expect it will be reduced in the coming seasons because of ranked battle overhaul (RBO). I will need to rent more higher-level cards, especially the summoner cards, to stay in the Silver I. Let's see how everything is going after this RBO.

3. Cards

  • My deck value is still in the downtrend. It reduced by 10% compared to last report, reached 450$ when I made the chart.
  • In the coming season, my SF cards will be reduced because I will level the rewards to the highest level if possible to deal with powerful enemies after RBO

4. My plan and target of 2024

  • Join the Guild brawl regularly ✅ and upgrade my Gladiator cards to Silver league cap level. I changed my fray in the Brawl to Silver league and upgrading the cards is needed to have a higher win rate.
  • I also increase my DEC contribution to the Guild to upgrade the Store to level 6 to buy the Blood Stone. At the moment, my contribution rate is 5 times higher than last year.✅
  • About liquid SPS, I will convert it to HBD and transfer it to HBD savings. Or convert to SWAP.HIVE and get more Nightmare packs.
  • Keep Nightmare packs to get staked SPS ✅
  • About Rebellion, I will buy some useful cards when it's possible and try to reach the Gold league at the season's end to get better rewards ❌

I see the challenge in my league was increased recently.
My win rate was reduced and I needed to play more to have the same earnings.

You're on fire! (while on the bus.) 😁 Unfortunately in Guild brawls we will still have a level cap at Bronze with Gladiators, if I got this right with the RBO changes. We needed to upgrade the Barracks for Silver. Yet with RBO Gladiators are available in Silver thanks to the summoners with Conscript ability or at ruleset "Are You Not Entertained?".

I'm excited to see you eager for an upgrade of the guild Store. It's still a long way and I wished for some ideas to challenge our members for contributions. Since I'm not in the blogging challenges recently my contributions are stalled, too. Yet I'm looking forward to the RBO changes.

It's the fair point and I haven't paid enough attention to the Barrack. Should we upgrade the Barrack which only required 100k DEC first then Store later?
We still have a long way to upgrade Store.

It's both a very long way with the speed we have. I'd love to see some Stones going over our counter more. That's why I postponed going after Silver Gladiators. I somehow dream of shopping tourists visiting our store for Stones for leaving contributions. In other words: The store can be something for which we can expect upgrades. We could give visitors a price (whatever the minimum will be to stay in the guild) to compete for the last spot.

It doesn't make sense anymore with the Guild Power. Once the wanderers leave the Guild, they will bring the GP with them and the Guild doesn't get any benefit from these wanderers.

Well, let's see it this way: If we have Stones in the Store AND an open spot, we will have wanderers. Thought purchases are only possible after the probation timer ended. Within this time we may negotiate a payment or advanced contribution just like every time the spot is filled. May add pressure to the last spot. Am I naive here? !invest_vote

I think you may spend a lot of time convincing the wanderers to contribute some DECs (GP) for this guild but they will bring the GP with them when they leave the Guild. Your time is worth more than that 😉

Well, I don't think it means I'm investing any more time than I already do. It's purely about the visibility of the active members in the league. What is contributed beyond that must ultimately be donated, as it already is. The prerequisite is that we have pressure on the last spot. By then, we will have worked out that the advance payment must be twice as high as the score of the penultimate place so that no one can run away with half of it. And if seven days are not enough to negotiate this, there will be no access to the store. That's simple.

I would like it better if donations were also possible in the first seven days. But I'm not involved enough in Splinterlands development to want to lobby for a change right now. I'm already glad that store purchases are no longer possible immediately upon joining. Because since the change, nobody seems to come just to buy gladiators straight away.
