1oz Silver 'Universal Value For World Trade Silver Security' Round

1000000639.jpg
I had all four kids at the house over the Easter weekend so I decided to go grab the whole stack and show it to them. They know I'm a stacker and have seen a good amount of the silver over the years, but this was the first time they saw the whole shebang.

The three oldest kids are out on their own now so I thought it would be a good time to explain value and savings and to remind them to not keep the majority of their savings in a bank!!

Anyhow, as we were looking I came across this round that I'm hoping to find out more about.

I got it at a LCS (local coin shoppe) in Portland a few years back and all I can find online are a few listings on ebay with no info other than what it says on the round :/

I love the deep stamp and can just imagine the press slamming that stamp into these rounds.

I did give it the ol' neodymium magnet test and it passes, so I'm not worried this is fake, I just would love to know where it came from. I highly doubt there is a total mintage number out there, I mean, 1974!?!? Did they even have pencils or paper back then? Doubtful xD

If you have or can find any info about this round I would love to hear about it.

This is not a vintage round. It’s a jackass buying silver blanks and using a stamp. Don’t be fooled grasshopper.

Interesting. I see them selling around $50 on ebay, might have to put this one up then.

Yeah, everything about this round is interesting, including what @silverd510 said about it not being from 1974 xD

Rounds like these are perfect in my opinion. Simple, not glamorous, straight to the point. If I saw something like this at my LCS, I'd pick it up in a heartbeat.

Obvi it is perfection. Like all things from 1974. 😃

Turns out it's not from 1974. It is silver though, so #winning.

Just cause silverd said it was made on a blank doesn’t mean the round isn’t from 1974. It just means someone stamped their own blank.

Could be but the first thing he said is it's not vintage and I tend to believe him. Of the few I've seen online for sale and mine, none looked toned or old in any way.

This was from a blank. It is a very pretty piece, @summertooth!
