Some Nice Mexican Silver!

I mentioned before I had been organizing pictures in my laptop and come across some pictures of coins I have collected over the years. I've always found Mexican and south American coins fun to collect and pick them up whenever I get the chance. To be completely honest I don't recall where I picked this particular coin up but it's an older one from 1924. Just about 100 years old! They aren't nearly as nice as peace dollars but they aren't usually horribly expensive either. And they are silver but only 0.72 on the fineness but definitely worth adding to your stack.

About the coin:
Mintage: 33,620,000
Mint: Mexico City
Denomination: one peso
Composition: Silver 72%
Weight: 16.66 grams
Diameter: 34 mm
Obverse: National arms
Reverse: Value and date inside 3/4 wreath under liberty cap

I hope you enjoyed my cool Mexican silver coin. If you have any questions or comments feel free to share below and have a great day!

And my disclaimer: Gold and silver stacking can be a fun hobby but isn't for everyone. You can lose money. I'm not a financial advisor and this isn't financial advice, please always do your own research before spending your hard earned money.

Mexican Silver coins were some of my first coins I collected as a kid.😊
You could pick these up at a good price, and it was always interesting to see the different denominations in both silver and copper !😊

And there are a whole lot of them too. I never collected much more than silver in Mexican coins but I know there are a bunch of copper and I think even aluminum coins these days!

When I first started coin collecting, you could get every denomination in a string of sealed plastic bags, if you will……
These were all circulated coins, so it really didn’t matter, but it’s still very interesting!😊

Very cool! I don't think I've ever seen anything like that.

It appears to be about 1/2 ounce of Silver... I suppose back in those days, it took 2 Silver Pesos to equal 1 Silver Dollar...

I'm not sure how it worked back then in Mexico to be honest, but lots of silver coins were produced!

Do you think they were all melted down, or do you think they're "mostly" in Hiding...??? I actually have an UN PESO Gold Coin from Mexico in hiding...

People have always tended to hoard silver and gold especially in places like Mexico, so many probably still are in some family hoards and only sold if money is tight.

I hope I never have to Cash in my Silver and Gold Hoard... I only want to turn in my Common U.S. Coinage for an equal Face Value amount of our New Product Line of Silver and Gold Coins...

Nice. I might have to start grabbing some Mexican coins if they can be snagged on the cheap.

Just make sure the seller is reputable and you should be ok, but I've found good deals pretty frequently on some of these older ones.

Thanks, they're pretty common especially in the southwestern US but not at all common in Scotland!

The Un Peso (then the Libertad) has been staple to their coinage. There smaller but pretty hefty.

Did you hear about the guy who threw his alarm clock while hosting a party?
He wanted to see if time flys while having fun.

You've got some nice ones there! I've picked up so many of these over the years that I can't remember them all. They are great to collect and stack!

I only have one Mexican silver round but they do have many
coins that I would like to eventually pick up at some point.

What I like about their older silver coins is they usually not that expensive. Plus they aren't counterfeited because there's not much money in it, unless it's an ultrarare perfect specimen then I would only buy graded.
