Another beautiful silver Peace dollar

avatar

I have always had an interest in history. In High School and College I took history courses that weren't required because it was amazing to learn how the world has changed over the centuries. Yes I guess that qualifies me as a history nerd... It's part of the reason that I enjoy collecting and stacking coins. I think the oldest coin I've owned was a cheap Roman coin about 1800 years old, but it was amazing to think someone that long ago held that same coin in their hands.

The coin I'm sharing today I picked up at the coin store recently. I'm pretty sure it's a duplicate I already have but it was in excellent shape and of course ninety percent silver and it was definitely priced well. And then of course I'm always a sucker for a nice silver dollar. This one was minted in 1923, exactly 100 years ago. Some other interesting facts from that year: the Hollywood sign was inaugurated, Yankee Stadium opened it's doors for the first time. Louis Armstrong makes his first recording "Chimes Blues", and Walt Disney forms the Walt Disney Corporation.

Here's the con:

I have always loved the Peace dollar design, beautiful with great detail. Always a great coin to add to your stack! If you have any questions or comments feel free to leave them below. And have a great day and stack on!

And please remember that collecting coins and stacking gold/silver is a great hobby but definitely not for everyone. You can lose money and you have to research before you make any purchase. Before you spend your hard earned money always do your due diligence by researching what you are buying. I am not a financial advisor and this isn't financial advice, I'm just a guy who loves coins and gold/silver stacking!

Very interesting tidbits of history to go along with your very nice 1923 Peace Dollar!😀
Just think..... six years before the stock market crash, and these people were making their mark on the world....
History is very interesting!😀

Do you just buy to keep them, or do you actually trade?

Investments, just hang on to them. Unless there's a zombie apocalypse... Precious metals are always a safe bet because they won't lose value over time.

I love the Peace Dollar! She looks very "American" unlike the Morgan Dollar. Maybe because the model was an American! Peace dollar artist Anthony de Francisci Liberty to express “the spirit of the country, the intellectual speed and vigor and virility America has, as well as its youth.” The right idea was a youthful, vibrant Liberty, rather than the matrons who frequently appeared as Liberty on American coins. The perfect model, it turned out, was none other than his young wife.

You can pick one of these 2023 Peace Dollars from the U.S. Mint, for only 76 if today's Digital Fiat USD's if you're lucky... That's only 76 Cents in "after" the Reset Prices...

Those are very pretty coins but that premium is so high, I want to buy some but can get junk silver cheaper!

They're cool, it was a great design. There's always eBay, but prices have been too high lately there for my tastes!
