Green Ornaments - Colors of Life #7 Entry

What I’m going to submit for the Colors of Life Green Topic is my mom’s green ornaments. They look like Jade, but I’m sure they’re not Jade. Hahaha!

For me, these are just ornaments that my mom displays, but for her, she says they’re lucky charms (though I don’t believe it. Hahaha!).

My mom is fond of believing in superstitions, in things that bring luck or bad luck, which is the opposite of what I believe.

She has so many ornaments displayed in her house that she thinks will bring her luck. I even told her that if she had just saved the money she spent on those ornaments, her savings might have increased.

Of course, she gets mad when I disagree with her lucky charms. Hahaha!

She always says, “Who knows, maybe one day I’ll win the lottery and get lucky.” I asked her, “Do you buy lottery tickets?” She said no. So I told her, “Then how will you get lucky? Will the winning lotto ticket just magically appear in your hand? Hahaha!” And she gets even more upset with me.

It’s my pastime to tease my mom about these things. I also wish that one day she’ll realize that those things don’t really bring luck.

Some of them have even broken because they fell and hit the floor. If they really brought luck, they wouldn’t have had the bad luck to fall and hit the floor, right?

I know a lot of people who read this might be superstitious, but for me, money is the reason why there’s such a widespread belief that those things bring luck. It’s likely that some businessman in the past spread the rumor that his ornaments bring luck, and so up until now, that’s what people believe.
