Apologies everyone, and admitting upfront, the quality of this post does not have the value I wanted to provide (and also very low on pictures, something I really enjoy providing), but I had to release the pool, so this one is going to be a short content one. Contributing also 90% is the fact that I've been completely drained for a couple of weeks now. And, almost decided to NOT do this one, but then invoked all my efforts to bring this a non-stop, continuous moment.

Been a fricking 2 years of IRLW for me. I have changed most of my daily activities, because now I am responsible for supporting a team of people I really enjoy. Similar to how I do here on #hive.

And this year... things might change even further. And the number of people I need to address might increase. But that's ok. I am preparing myself for that moment every day.

Anyway, enough of my IRL...

😠 Increase your X-factor protection!

I have been attacked for more than a decade now... and I can tell you, the more you get known, the more it looks like you get attacked (at least from the perception wise). And I think it's just increasing every day.

If you have hive accounts that hold a lot of money, then be sure you have the right people as a backup account. Check with them regularly. Implement several ways of recovering them. TEST the process regularly (at least 2 times a year)!

Ideally, have a secondary split account where you trust another group of people, or, for the most advanced people, have a multi-sig option for controlling this kind of problem.

The world is becoming more and more weird, and safe paradises are getting rarer and rarer!

🧐 A reminder on ATX Distribution

Don't forget that now you will need an equivalent amount of shares on the ATX:SWAP.HIVE pool in order to get the ATX from the total NFTs you have, when participating in these giveaways.

These changes are written on the PowerUp Delegation Givaway Rules. Over "Important Changes", and in this particular one, over item 2.

2 - Until 26/07/2025 the number of ATX tokens distributed to any eligible participant would be a direct count of the number of ATX NFTs held by that participant (+1 or +2 more ATX from the old model of the PowerUp Shard NFT). After this date, such rules don't apply anymore, and instead, these will:
2.1 - A minimum of 1 ATX token is always distributed as long as the participant is eligible.
2.2 - The number of ATX NFTs a participant holds on the giveaway date counts as the maximum ATX tokens possible for a participant to receive.
2.3 - Users will need to hold shares within the ATX:SWAP.HIVE pool in order to receive up to the maximum defined in 2.2. One Share equals to one ATX token. So, if you are entitled to a maximum of 10 ATX tokens, you need 10 Shares on the pool to receive them all. For example, if in this case you would hold only 5 Shares instead, you will only receive 5 ATX tokens. If you hold less than 1 share, you will always receive 1 ATX token (given you are eligible)

Plus, you should be expecting by the end of August the new (3rd year) distribution to come into the rewards pool of the same ATX:SWAP.HIVE pool.

There will be more changes this year. These changes are meant to keep stuff in its happy places, while driving enough curiosity in everyone to learn a bit here and there.

New ATX:CENT's Pool 💦💧🌊

And this one was something I had to think for a long time... not because I doubt it, but because of the other things I have as priority (and you will understand later thowards the next year).

Anyhow, always wanted to create this one because the CENT token has a huge amount of ability to empower you to move tokens around. Just check how many pools exist connecting CENT and other tokens!!!

Yeah... volume volume volume! With ATX this is the 12th Pool for CENT token.

Note: I have pre'talked this with @anadolu, as I want to be transparent with the stuff I do...

I have done a big push on @dcrops, and I am going to keep working my ass off there.

But before I go nuts again and show you it's been a working-in-progress thing... let me show off!

I have been telling myself, this is a "long term game!" ... and it looks like it is!

So lately I have been trying to convince some people that don't have the time... to not go away...

For that kind of initiative, I have started something called the dCropWay on @forkyishere last posts. And with that, the intention was for people to discover a bit more of the game and win some stuff.

Indeed, let's see if I can show off a bit on the next post. These last weeks have been a bit too much so, no time for anything. But you are right, the groups seems very active, and everyone there is helping me keep moving too. So well done.

You have a lot in the ATX:BEER pool. I have a bit but nowhere near as much as you 😂

I need to be doing some more in vsc. Not quite sure I have a full feeling of how to use it yet. Like, if you log in with Hive, will you get a set of evm addresses, can you import an existing wallet somehow or is it something completely different that will happen? I have only tried logging in to vsc with an email compatible wallet via wallet connect

BEER! :P very cheap commodity :D - and if one day @detlev manages to make a "free BEER service" (aka you get a free BEER voucher every year if you stake X amount of BEER) like the one I heard on HiveFest last year, damn... I would be hyped about that kind of project... and would definitely participate.

So, yeah, bulking on BEER in case he ever decides to make that happen.

Note: This is just me messing around (no such thing has been announced by him to my knowledge), but it would indeed be a crazy project I would love to support. And in fact, if I recall correctly, someone in the past was trying this at least locally, right @rollie1212?, and I loved @cryptobrewmaster game.

You log with an EVM address if you want to send stuff from that EVM address that you have on VSC. But because most people will have nothing (for now, because there is only lightning implemented I think and HIVE/HBD, unless that EVM account has anything of those, you will not see anything there).

But eventually the system will support more tokens and you will be able to send them over.

What you can do now, is transfer from your hive account into VSC and then from your hive account at VSC, to EVM VSC.

And you will need HBD liquid in order to recharge the EVM VSC account.

hey, we had an experience in a co-brewing beer in Kyiv back in a days, people were buying out tokens and after we sold the beer and got our profit we re-bought tokens back. This is something we can easily do once again in Prague. Depends, if community would love to crowd-fund \ invest in that kind of project!

I didn't know CENT was paired with so many other tokens: that's a nice usecase!

About the VSC Network, I've seen that they are making some nice progress and I can't wait to have that layer 2 fully working and usable.

Already works from HIVE to VSC and from VSC to EVM (and for HIVE/HBD and the Lightning Network, I believe). Now, all it needs is the contracts to be established (aka created) in order to support more cryptos, but basically, the bridging technology is implemented and live.

We might need some fine-tuning here and there, but we are pretty much free for all. Anyone can deploy if they want.

One thing that I didn't get, though, is how to link an EVM address to a Hive address: because right now I can log in with both, but not simultaneously, so if I want to send some HIVE from my Hive account to my EVM wallet I have to:

  • send HIVE to my VSC (Hive) wallet
  • then, send that same HIVE from my VSC (Hive) wallet to my VSC (EVM) wallet
    It would be nice to have both wallet legged in at the same time, or at least linked, so it would be easier to go from Hive to somewhere else (and viceversa) through the VSC Network.

And another thing I'd like to see explained are swap fees: right now swapping BTC for HIVE has a flat 3.5% fee, which seems quite high. Is this going to be the standard fee for every swap? I hope not, tbh!

Yeah, CENT token at this stage is not comparable with what it was at the beginning. I am just kind of using the use case they created by pairing indirectly with more tokens through CENT token.

Is backing your hive account as much of an issue if your do not leave your computer on all the time ?

Independent of that, I would say. As long as you have two devices at all times, it should be more than ok. The important bit is to have the recovery account set to someone who can definitely help you in case you either get hacked or lose all your keys.

And usually your owner key is not on Hive keychain, so you need to store that one at least securely somewhere.

Alternatively, you can put them on a USB pen (password-encrypted) and store that in a safe place, just in case.

An important note that I forgot to mention. To initiate a recovery process with your recovery account, you need to know at least one previously owner key or password (up to last 30 days being active, so, because your password derivates the 4 keys, everytime you use any of those keys it counts as activity)... Otherwise one can't sign the triggered process by the recovery account.

So, its important to have that owner key or password safe somewhere, or change your keys on purpose, and then keep the old key somewhere safe (because it can still trigger the process). - this only works for the last 30 days, so ignore this.

As in, your account has 5 types of keys on Hive, 4 normal keys (Owner, Active, Post and Memo) plus one "master password" that generates all the other 4 keys, which you can call it like a "seed password or passphrase" (if you want it to compare it to other chains).

You can see all these keys on you Hive keychain for example, except the "Seed Password" and the owner key. Those two one should store offline (preferable) or in a place secure enough that once needed, you are sure to always exist and be there. They are not going to be required (for most users) ever... but they are the basic security of anyone's account.

Then, on top of this, there is the "recovery account". This is another hive account, that can have the power to help you recover your account. And by "can have" I mean, you the authentic owner, must have a good relationship with that person, and understand how it works.

Because it works this way... if someone hacks your Account, and your keys don't work anymore, your previous "owner key" can still help you recovery via this recovery process (if your account was active on the last 30 days).

The way it works is that once you detect you have been hacked, you contact your recovery account (within 30 days) and ask to initiate the recovery process.

Once your recovery account broadcasts the initial request, you will have 24 hours to broadcast a transaction with your old owner key and the new one... designated to replace the old one you had, at the time changed by the hacking account.

And its at this point that the relationship works. Because your recovery account, should not just imitate that request at any time, but only when requested by you.

Hence why its important to know exactly that person. Or have an alternative account (like I do) where the keys are stored off-chain.

Hopefully this helps, if we need to iterate, we can.

Greetings, from the previous point, I clearly understand that I must have a recovery account. In the event my account is hacked, there's a mechanism that works if my account was active during the first 30 days. I have 24 hours to request a recovery account. Is this correct?

Or have an alternative account (like I do) where the keys are stored off-chain

Recovery accounts on Hive are accounts that can help recover your account if your account gets hacked. Meaning you still need to know the owner key (or password), to trigger the process, but will allow you account to be recovered (aka, the recovery account to provide you, the real owner, a new owner key).

People can set their recovery account, here (for example): https://peakd.com/@<your_account>/permissions (and then go into "RECOVERY ACCOUNT tab")

There are other tools...

Changing the recovery account takes 30 days. This is for security reasons obviously.

Hi, it says page not found.

A friend on Hive wanted to change her passwords, and it seems her signal went out while she was doing it or the power went out for a short time, and she lost her account and couldn't get it back.

I would like to back up my account but I'm afraid of doing something wrong. In my country, the signal is poor and the electricity can go out at any moment.

If you have your old password, it should be fine. That account does not look like it changed keys, so whatever you had previously, it should work.

And regarding protecting our Hive accounts and backups, I need to learn more about that and how to do it. I think it's tricky and you have to know how to do it.

I'm struggling to understand pools a bit, but I'm sure I'll soon be able to handle the information well. I've heard they're great for generating passive income. I'd like to understand it a little more. I have a lot to take in, and Hive Fest is almost here, so start packing your bags. I hope you have a great time there and take lots of photos, with or without feet. Hehe.

The secret is to play with all things in so small amounts that you don't care if you lose stuff. In those terms, your creativity and adaptions boost your learning process.

It's sort of what I try to do with the things I create. People don't need to put a full token into a pool liquidity to try it... they can just add 0.0001 ATX, and in that sense, the loss/win is irrelevant, but then people can learn from what to expect, how things react, etc.

This is why I am still here. To show people that trying small amounts of things can be the best way of learning. Even when someone knows nothing about it.

You have 2.81 shares there... it means you only get a maximum (up to the limit of how many NFTs you have) of 2 ATX (all you need is to hold at least 2 ATX NFTs).

The whole idea around this project is to teach people, make them aware of the little details of blockchains in general, especially Hive. I do this because I enjoy, and because I know eventually this will be the future. ATX was a platform I eventually had to develop to support my effort (basically to put a face into it). It does a lot of things, such as being a thing I can control in order to produce materials, and or something I can use to incentivize people learn.

Hence, if people want to promote it (which I am not against), be yourself. Do as if it would be yours and you would want to teach the next one. That's sort of the Hive community anyhow.

And don't worry too much with reputation and things like that. When I started all this, I have said to myself, if there is anyone here that can be made fool of (because I will understand when that is happening, and will find ways to control it), its me. What I mean is, I am prepared for others to make mistakes, and I will help whenever I can, but no worries. So, appreciate all the support, and if there is anything I would love more than anything, is for people on Hive, to keep teaching and showing how Hive works to others.

That's ATX in a nutshell :D

You are doing an amazing job, friend. You don't get paid to do it, but you do it every day, and that's inspiring for real.
